Hi,
I started playing Mass Effect a few days ago, im up to 6hrs.
I really like the game, its probably the best story and voice acting ive ever seen.

Im a soldier class, and my team is Wrex and Tali. Ive been upgrading my character by focusing on assault rifle, pistol and sniper, as well as the odd "auto-upgrade".

Up until now, ive been playing the same way i used to play CS about 10yrs ago, i havent used any of the new features.

Im stuck at this part of the game because the enemies have started running towards me, where as before i was hiding behind boxes and sniping them (with my team running around getting killed).

I looked up youtube videos and everyone has cool moves like making enemies float and stuff.

Could anyone give me a step by step run down of how to use the special abilities. I know how to bring up the menu, RB (xbox btw), ive tried selecting them, like increased defense etc. But i still die really easy.

Also, can anyone explain how the health system works?
How do i refil the blue bars? ppl on youtube have them bounce back, buy mine dont.
Also, my health bounces back, but my other team members dont??
It reminds me of Halo (no. 1) but i cant figure it out.

What else should i know? The green hot chicks that are spewed out of the fugly Thorian thing kill me in about 2 shots!

Where to begin? Are you on PC or console? What happens is if you're trying to kill the big plant, you have to shoot out the nodes. There are 5 of them I think. Have your weapon aimed and you'll see an orange square on the plant, shoot at that and it will break the node, you'll get a meter down in the lower right hand corner as you shoot. The Thorian Creepers (the walking dead like things) come to life each time you blast a node that will loosen the hold the plant has attached to the wall. If you have Wrex with any biotics at all, you need him to use throw or warp on the Asari Clones, they are tough to kill. Biotics will render them useless while they are in the air, then you can shoot them and kill them. If you're new to the game, I would strongly recommend taking different teams with you instead of just sticking with the same people. Tali is good with the geth but not so great against organics like the Asari clones.

As for the upgrades, don't use the ammo upgrades that overheat your guns, they are useless. It looks like they do a lot but you only get a few shots and the gun is overheated. Use the cryo, incendiary rounds, stuff like that, just read the description. The scram rails and high explosives are no good, I got like 3 shots out of my assualt rifle before it was useless. I always try to upgrade my armor and my companions armor soon as I can.

I'm still too raw aboot these parts, but I'm willing to try.

I've liked throwing or lifting the Asari clone here, and using shotguns to pacify creepers, but pistols and assault rifles can work too if you have invested in those talents.

The key for the thorian is taking each node by itself, so that you are not overwhelmed with creepers. My experience is on insanity and hardcore, so being methodical is very helpful in this sequence.
