You can do the above steps with any game, not just ME1 or ME2. What video card do you have and make sure there is nothing running in the background, antivirus included. What antivirus do you run?

I use NOD32 antivirus. And I always turn it off when I start almost any game.
Well this whole freezing thing is not a big deal, if I manage to play for an hour, I still should be able to finish it quickly and then import my Shep to ME2.

Do you know how to update your video card drivers? Do that and see what happens. I usually update mine every month or whenever they get posted on the site. I have a Radeon ATI though.

I think updating my card driver worked. I played today for 1.15h without any problems, I wonder will it stay this way.
