Alright, i've played my first playthrough of Mass Effect, went as a Soldier, loved the game and here I am. After a few minutes of studying, I find out each class has sub-classes. What is this about? Through my one play-through, I never once heard about a Shock Trooper or Commando option.

Yeah, you would have. When you get to a certain level, it asks you to specialise.

yeah, did you by any chance just run through the main quests and do little to none of the side quests?

I could have swore that the accomplishing the Lunar mission is what allows you to be a Shock or Commando trooper. Idk, it's been awhile since I've played and my XBOX RROD and is being sent back to me currently so I can't verify that.

No... I dont think thats it. Because you dont even do that mission if you havent got the right combo of background story choices. Im almost certain its level related.

Yes, but you should be able to do the lunar mission on any 'full' playthrough of ME iirc.

It is level related. At level 20 Hackett sends you a message about a training facility on the moon where the VI has gone crazy.

I remember it so well because you can find Luna 23.
