The Armor Report

Greetings everyone – I'm sure many of you are already aware of this subject, but if at least one reader didn't know, then this information was useful.
Question: What's the best armor?
Followed by: Where/how do I get it?
I too quested for this, only to find nothing. Here's what you need:
1. You'll need lots of cash. Depending on your spending habits, and what you want to purchase, you need AT LEAST a couple million bucks.
2. You need to be aware of the “reloading trick.” It's simple enough: whenever you complete a major plot advance, your supply guy gets a random restock. Visit a port, then any planet, and save. If he doesn't have what you're looking for, RELOAD.
3. You need to be AT LEAST level 36. (Or 55-60.)
4. Buy ONLY the Geth Armory License. You'll go insane otherwise. If you have more licenses than this one, finish your game, and on your next replay, do this.
If you meet this criteria, prepare to be more powerful than you used to be.
WHAT'S THE BEST ARMOR? The best armor in the game is Krogan – Battlemaster X, Berserker X, and Rage X.
The strategy guide (pg 36) states that a level X gear drop falls under level 55-60. I'm not 100% sure on this. Regardless, the absolute best is X. If you don't have it, you're missing out.
These 3 armor types are exactly the same in stats, and are extremely rare. The only difference between them is color variations. Each costs 828,000.
WHERE/HOW DO I GET IT? Your supply guy, with the Geth Armory License. You'll go insane reloading your game to find them. I have NEVER encountered these armors randomly in game.
Okay, why should you care about Krogan armor? Because anyone can equip them. Anyone in your party can equip anyone else's armor. It won't screw up your game, or do anything damaging. Here's what you need to do the “Cross-Equip Glitch”:
1. Any participating party members (duh.)
2. Depending on how many armor types you have in your 'equip' listing, you need that many armor upgrades. This also depends on where the armor is sitting on the list. Keep it simple – get rid of armors you never need or use. Trust me, and just do it.
3. The equip works counting from the bottom up. It sounds complicated, but it isn't. The worst that can happen is that you accidentally delete an upgrade.
4. Say for example you want to equip the Asari with Battlemaster armor. Put an upgrade in her armor. Check the 'equip' listing for where the Battlemaster armor is sitting, and count it from the bottom up. You need that many listed upgrades to access it. Now push X to bring up the upgrade listing. Push Y, then A quickly. Push B to say no. If you didn't delete your upgrade, you see a funny-looking upgrade listing. Count up from the bottom, and transfer the upgrade. She's equipped with Battlemaster armor.
Still not convinced that you need to do it? Let's look at the numbers.
I'm assuming Predator X Heavy or Colossus X Heavy is your favorite one. Or something close to it.
Colossus X Heavy: Dmg Prot 79/ Shields 450/ Tech-Biotic Prot 18
Predator X Heavy: Dmg Prot 58/ Shields 540/ Tech-Biotic Prot 34
Drumroll please...
Krogan (special): Damage Protection: 75/ Shields: 420/ Tech & Biotic Protection: 51
The trade off is 4 damage protection, 30 shield, and you gain 33 biotic protection. In the heat of battle, you wish you had better biotic protection. If you're high enough level to get this far, you don't need those 30 shield points.
When cross-equipped, the armor doesn't look any different. Here's how the armor looks on your characters:
Human: Forest Green
Turian: Dark Gray (with shoulder guards)
Quarian: No change – default purple armor
Also, the only other notable change is when Garrus is cross-equipped with Heavy Colossus Armor X (Human or Krogan) his armor is a splotch of dark purple, red, abd black. He also gains shoulder guards. The Quarian remains in default purple.
Personally, my favorite “away team” is the Turian and Asari. Together, we are equipped with one of each of these Krogan armors. (And 2 Medical X upgrades.) Seriously, I stopped using my Colossus armor altogether. And it's better to have some color variation, then stare at red and black for hours on end. And Garrus's helmet looks alright.
Still not convinced, but you want to complete your Colossus collection? Follow the steps above, but buy ONLY the Kassa Fabrication License.
I hope someone learned something.
